Four Eyes

ombré frames

In order to see from far away I have to wear eyeglasses. Sometimes it becomes a real hassle because I have to be taking them off and putting them back on depending on what I'm doing throughout the day since I only use them to see from far away. So in order to make up for all the trouble I go through I like to reward myself with a fashionable pair of glasses!

I'm really feeling the eye-cat frame, what do you guys think?

As of late...

Airport necessities: boyfriend jeans, comfy sweater and headphones

I'm back! It's taken me a couple of days to get back into the swing of things after our vacation but unfortuatley the time has finally some to step back into reality. I hope you all have been enjoying your Summer and taking advantage of the wonderful, yet sometimes hard to understand, weather.

Here are a few good ol' instagram pictures from my trip to Miami, you can follow me on Instagram at @cynthiarod!

Easy, Breezy

Even though it's been raining the past few days there is no denying that easy, breezy is the way to go when it comes to blouses and shirts during the Summer. I love this blouse, it's the perfect amount of sheer and can be worn with shorts, jeans, as well as slacks for a more 9 to 5 look.

We've been enjoying our time here in Miami so much that we decided to extend our stay by a few more days. Our time so far has consisted of strolling through the city, eating lots and meeting up with old friends.

Denim on the Bay

As I mentioned on Thursday we took a trip to Miami and so far we're having a blast. I'm trying not to think about the flight back home for now and just enjoy every moment we have left here. We snapped these pictures (very quickly) on Brickell Key on Friday while meeting for work on the island.

Unfortunately we weren't able to capture good images because it's illegal to take pictures on the Key without previous approval, which we obviously had no idea about so we were only able to get a few pictures in. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

On the Eve of Traveling

basic cotton tees, stripped shirts, denim shirt (which can be worn with just about anything) and a fun Summer dress

Packing, for some reason has always been one of my favorite parts of the entire trip. It builds up the excitement of all the potential things that could happen! I snapped a few shots of my travel necessities before putting them in the suitcase and hauling off to the airport.

Like I mentioned previously I plan out all my outfits in advance that way I don't have to spend anytime planning or fussing over what I'll wear because as we all know vacation time is precious.

The Secrets of Red Lips

I have to admit perfecting the red lip "look" is not an easy task. It takes practice and a little research. Numerous friends have asked how I manage to make my red lipstick last all night without smearing so I'm sharing a few tricks I've picked up a while ago. Hope they help you guys!

Step 1. Always moisturize your lips with balm or even by exfoliating before apply anything else on your lips.

Step 2. Apply a dab of concealer all over lips.

Step 3. Apply a matching red lip liner, this way your lipstick won't smear.

Step 4. Make sure to apply the lip liner all over the lips, this as well as the concealer will lock in your lipstick.

Step 5. The funnest part, apply lipstick over your lipliner.

Step 6. Apply translucent loose powder around the rim of your lips. This helps to seal on the color so that it won't smear throughout the night.

Getting the Party Started

With the way the economy has been everyone seems like they're constantly looking our for ways to save or reduce spending on entertainment. A major way to cut back is by hanging out with friends at home instead of going out to eat and just having a good time. I'm a big believer in that the greatest moments are shared at home with those you love.

So I've put together a list of different ideas that you can do in order to hang out with friends and save money at the same time. These are themed "get-together's" that can be done with just a couple of friends as well as a bigger bunch.

A paint party is a great way to let loose, relax and spend some time with friends. The bonus of course - everyone gets to take home an incredible, handmade piece of art.

A classic movie night, with this cute cart to display all of the movie watching essentials like: popcorn, soda, straws and nuts to snack on.

A manicure party is an awesome idea! Get a few of your closest girlfriends, bring out all of your nail polish colors, bake cookies and brew some coffee.  You're ready for the party!

A simple brunch with girlfriends is a great way to catch up and enjoy the beautiful weather outside, complete with fresh fruit, mimosas, and simple decoration to set the mood.

All White Wimbledon Customs

two shades of white

Royal Patronage, strawberries and cream and the all white-dress code are just a few of the long cemented customs of the Wimbledon tennis matches. However after watching the matches these past few weeks what caught my eye, besides the game of course, were the white ensembles on all the players, girls and guys, alike. And since white is one of my favorite colors I was inspired to curate a few pictures inspired by the all-white dress code.

Hope you guys enjoy!

Red, White & Gold

So here's my red, white and little bit of gold for today! I love celebrating the 4th of July (for obvious reasons) and also for the food, fireworks and spending time outdoors with family and friends. We might  be driving out to the lake to watch a fireworks show or maybe just staying home, inviting friends over and sipping on some celebratory champagne to top off the night.

Hope you all have an amazing 4th close to those who you love while appreciating those who fought for the freedom we celebrate today.

Here's a little outfit inspiration, these shorts were old jeans that I cut into bermudas, paired with the most comfortable tank top and red heels to dress up the entire ensemble. xo

Packing tips

On the first long trip I took with one of my friends I discovered we had polar opposite ways packing for trips. She was surprised to see I had pre-planned all of my outfits while she planned them out throughout the trip. I've always found it helpful to be extremely organized while packing for trips, I just feel like it makes the entire process so much more smooth.

So here are just a few of my personal packing tips that have become habitual for me and maybe they can help you on your next getaway.

1. Pre-plan all of your outfits. I cannot stress this enough, it's such a time and space saver on your vacation. I know it's impossible to know everything you'll be doing but you can kind of predict depending on where you're going (i.e. summer vacation to Mexico, short weekend trip to see family, etc.)

2. Always pack at least one pair of flats and one pair of heel/wedges in a neutral color. You'll want to be comfortable but at the same time prepared for any surprise outing with friends and having both a heel or wedges in a neutral color makes it easier to having to pack more shoes (which can weigh a lot and take up tons of precious space)!

3. Pack a hat. Doesn't matter what type of hat, but it will help toward the end of the trip when your hair isn't looking like it should or maybe you want to look slightly different in some pictures.

4. Make sure to take one pair of shorts, one pair of jeans, and one skirt. With these bottoms you should be good for an entire week (day and night). You can alternate all three between day and night and they don't have to be denim, actually preferably not, that way they take up less space in your luggage.

5. Take one statement piece of jewelry, either a bracelet or a necklace to quickly fancy up any outfit without packing your entire jewelry stash!

And last but not least, remember to have fun. This list is by no means all inclusive but this is the foundation of a vacation wardrobe no matter where you're going!

Heat Wave

This weekend was insanely hot, almost unbearable where I live. I'm not sure if it was a heat wave but it sure felt like one, the entire weekend was between 105-108 degrees. Either way we made the most of it. We practiced some tennis, had a family grill-out, went to the pool and spent a lot of time inside our cozy and cool home trying to beat the heat.

I wore this outfit because I needed to stay cool but at the same time feel a little dressed up to remind myself that it was the weekend!

How about you, what did you do over the weekend? Were you a victim of the heat wave also?
